SotM: Back to the Future Remix

We have reached the future. I repeat, we have reached the future.

Back in the 80s, as a child you were obsessed with Back to the Future. You just were. Then Back to the Future Part II came out, and you were obsessed with self-lacing sneakers and, of course, hoverboards.

At the time – winter 1989 to be exact – 2015 was so far away. Flying cars seemed plausible. So, too, did roughly 75 Jaws films. We all longed for 2015.

Now, not so much. This 2015, the real, harsh 2015, has been unrelenting in its pursuit to test the very fabric of humanity, and has most, if not all, of us longing for Bob Zemeckis’ vision of the 21st century. If we’re being brutally honest, 2015 isn’t so far removed from Biff’s alternative 1985.

That’s why October of this year is so welcome. You see, October 21, 2015, is the day Marty and Doc traveled to the future to prevent Marty, Jr. from heading to the big house. To commemorate the film, and indeed the entire Back to the Future franchise, October 21 has been deemed Back to the Future Day across the globe. The original filmmakers and stars are doing the rounds, Pepsi and the like are taking advantage of the opportunity. It’s all a bit overwhelming.

Meanwhile, Eclectic Method have offered up their own homage to the film trilogy with a mashup that can only be described as heavy. Peep it, and then go back and watch the films. They’re timeless.
